Support H.3857:

Modernize Alcohol Delivery and
Curbside Pickup in South Carolina

As a South Carolina constituent, I ask you to support H.3857 to allow alcohol delivery and curbside pickup in our state.

 

Many states already allow responsible alcohol delivery and curbside pickup, yet South Carolina remains one of the few that does not. We deserve the same options and conveniences that residents in neighboring states already enjoy.

 

Allowing responsible alcohol delivery and curbside pickup will:

 

• Promote Public Safety. South Carolina ranks near the top nationally in DUI fatalities per capita. Allowing safe, regulated alcohol delivery gives responsible adults another option - reducing the temptation to get behind the wheel.

• Respect Free-Market Principles. If businesses can safely provide delivery with proper ID checks and trained drivers, the state shouldn’t block that option. Consumers - not the government - should decide what works best for their households. 

• Provide Modern Convenience. Busy parents, seniors, and people with mobility challenges already rely on curbside and delivery for groceries and meals. Alcohol should not be treated differently when the same safeguards are in place. 

 

At the end of the day, this is about supporting free enterprise and removing unnecessary red tape. South Carolinians shouldn’t have fewer options simply because our laws haven’t kept up with the times.
